Why Risk Comes First
Why preserving your account matters more than chasing returns, why recovering from a −50% loss requires +100%, and how the 1–2% rule keeps you in the game.
Why Risk Comes First
Beginner traders usually ask one question first: "How much can I make?" Experienced traders ask something else entirely: "How much will I lose if I'm wrong?" This difference isn't accidental. The traders who last in the market aren't those who make the most during a good month, but the ones who are still in the game after a bad one.
This module is all about risk management—the skill that determines whether your account will survive until your trading strategy starts working for you.
Survival Before Returns
Every strategy, no matter how good, goes through losing streaks. If 55% of your trades end in profit, running into 6 or 7 consecutive losses across a few hundred trades is practically inevitable. The question isn't whether you'll face such a streak, but what shape your account will be in when it ends.
The exact same ten losses, the same market, the same entries. The only difference is a single number: the percentage of your account at risk on each trade. The trader risking 1% lost less than 10% of their account and can comfortably carry on. The trader risking 10% lost nearly two-thirds of their balance and, in all likelihood, can no longer make level-headed decisions.
